MODEL FOR RECEPTION AND HEALTH INTEGRATION (MISA)

ISG IFO is the coordinator of the Project Model for Reception and Health Integration (MISA).
Project description
The project is part of the program founded by Italian Ministry of Interior to protect the Health of Immigrants (Fondo FAMI), to improve the quality of the programs and services of the National Health Service offered to asylum seekers and holders of international protection present in the Apulian territory.
Purpose
- Sharing within the regional health system an integrated model for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of dermatological, (in particular, post-traumatic stress related ones), sexually transmitted, and oncological diseases.
- To improve the knowledge of procedures for taking charge of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the abovementioned pathologies; to improve the skills of centre’s operators and of health professionals; to improve the level of health protection for the beneficiaries.
- Research-action; trials for an integrated model of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the abovementioned pathologies; training of health professionals; training of centre operators; trial of “Health Desks”; communication and networking.
- Methodology in line with the objectives: starting from an initial survey of the critical issues and further trialling a model able to address them (knowing before acting).
- To manage critical issues for health care; 30 trained centre operators; 80 trained regional health system’s health workers; 200 assisted vulnerable having applied for or having been granted international protection; activation of 2 “Health Desks”; contribute to the removal of organisational and cultural barriers to use and access of regional health services and to the protection of beneficiaries’ health status.
Financial support
The total cost of the grant-eligible project is € 584.779,95.
