ADVANCED NON-INVASIVE DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES IN THE HEALING PROCESS OF FRAGILE PATIENTS (LAZIO INNOVA CICAOV70)

The IFO – San Gallicano Dermatological Institute IRCCS is the coordinator of this Project.
Partner: Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS
The project aims to experimentally evaluate the biological effects of a solution containing ozone, hyaluronic acid, and a pool of antioxidants on the epidermis, dermis, and cutaneous capillary system during the healing process in elderly patients (over 70) suffering from epithelial skin cancer (Squamous Cell Carcinoma and Basal Cell Carcinoma). The skin of elderly patients with skin cancer is characterized by marked actinic damage with epidermal atrophy, increased dermal elastosis and reduced re-epithelialization capacity with consequent delays in the healing process. The assessment of the healing process will be conducted during the removal of the skin tumour, using non-invasive diagnostic techniques on a sample of about 200 patients over the age of 70.
The total cost of the grant-eligible project is € 150.000,00. The funding resources are from the Public Notice "Research Groups 2020 POR FESR LAZIO 2014-2020" Determination G08487 of 19/07/2020.
